Mobile dash is go

The gadget, which works on new Volvos, taps into the car’s computer. It can even help owners locate their motor on a map, and sets off the horn and lights to assist them in tracking it down. The free download can also unlock the doors – although phone thieves still need the key to drive off. If the car is stolen, the device will track its location.

To use the app, buyers must opt for Volvo’s £325 On Call crash alert system, which includes a 3G SIM card hidden in the model.

A five-year SIM subscription is included in the package.
