Telco 2.0 Best Practice Live! 2011: the free virtual conference at your fingertips

You are just one click away from engaging directly with some of the movers, shakers and thought leaders in the evolution of telecoms – all from the comfort of your office desk, your sofa at home or even on the go. Interactivity is a key element of Telco 2.0 Best Practice Live! 2011: the uniquely virtual online forum mapping the cutting-edge intersection of telecoms, media and technology. The event runs live on June 28 and 29 and will be available on demand. Because it’s free, it won’t cost you anything but your time, and the event will even help you to maximize that.

Telco 2.0 Best Practice Live! is unique among industry events, as the entire experience is virtual. The “venue” is your screen: whether it be on a mobile phone, tablet or computer. All of the speakers will address the event through prerecorded presentations supplemented by a live online presence. Ericsson is one of the event sponsors, which is being run by consulting and research company TL Partners. You can register for the event on the Telco 2.0 Best Practice Live! 2011 website.

Stefan Hedelius, Head of Strategy and Marketing at Ericsson’s Business Unit (BU) Multimedia, will be among the speakers that participants will be able to submit questions to and chat with in real time.

Hedelius will take part in the Mobile Broadband Networks session on June 29 by delivering a presentation on the segmentation of mobile broadband. He will outline the move from one-size-fits-all mobile broadband solutions to opportunities that are tailored to specific operators – mainly in transformation projects in Operational Support Systems and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS).

Other event sessions will cover the opportunities for telecoms in cloud services, digital entertainment 2.0, mobile applications and applications stores.

Just as they would if they were attending an event in person, participants will have excellent networking opportunities – not just with speakers and presenters, but with other participants in real time. On-screen information will show who is logged in at any given time. Participants who want to focus only on the content can opt to hide their presence online.

Similarly, the participants will be able to visit an exhibition area. Ericsson will showcase material related to mobile broadband segmentation, Operations and Business Support Systems, and the Networked Society, including views from the company’s Networked Society blog.

Fredrik Almqvist, Strategic Marketing Manager at Ericsson’s BU Multimedia, says that the way Telco 2.0 Best Practice Live! focuses on new and evolving business models will appeal to all areas of the telecom industry.

"Our industry has never changed as fast as it is changing right now, and Telco 2.0-related discussions are an important part of that," he says. "The obvious challenge is how to continue to drive revenues, create new business models and maximize return on investment during this change. For example, end users are taking more direct control over their spending. That trend is likely to grow, and it will be a factor in operators’ decision-making about OSS/BSS."

"Stefan will outline how the segmentation of mobile broadband is resulting in a variety of new opportunities for the industry to capitalize on existing solutions. We’re looking forward to hearing the views of the audience."

Almqvist adds: "There are so many benefits to attending an event like this. There are no costs, no travel or carbon-footprint worries, and the sessions are designed so that you can take a short time-out from your working day without inconvenience. The speakers are senior-level, there is an excellent exhibition space, and there are tremendous Q&A and networking opportunities benefits."

"It really is a conference at your fingertips."

The event will be available on-demand online until the end of September.
