Tech News: Apple iOS Update Fixes Its Location Tracking Feature

Apple has released a software update for the iOS that aims to fix “bugs” that enables location data being unencrypted and stored for up to a year.

The iOS 4.3.3 update, which was released yesterday, is expected to reduce the cache of saved data on devices as well as disallows iTunes from storing location information on users’ computers.

This comes after Apple was criticized for storing up to a year’s worth of users’ location data. The update, which will work on all iDevices, will now log users’ movements of up to a week. Users will also have an option to turn off location services, which will cause location data to be deleted.
