Sony has unveiled a new chip for contactless smart cards with FeliCa support AES encryption

The Japanese company Sony announced the development of a new generation of chips for contactless smart cards FeliCa, using RFID technology, and which now began to support AES encryption in addition to DES.

Recall that the FeliCa chips are used in various industries and devices - ranging from credit cards and tickets, and ending with cell phones and keys to the electronic doors.

The new chips use the same frequency band (13.56 MHz), a similar system of coding and modulation, but at the same time have a large amount of internal memory, support automatic error correction, and a new encryption algorithm - AES.

Feelers presented chip company is going to start releasing this winter, and commercial production is scheduled for spring of next year.
