Review: Barnes & Noble Unveils Smaller, Touch-Capable Nook E-Reader

Barnes & Noble has introduced its latest Nook e-book reader, which comes in a smaller 6-inch Pearl e-ink touchscreen and a battery life that lasts up to two months. The new Nook weighs 7.5 ounces and does not have a QWERTY keyboard, which is why B&N could not help but brag about how their Nook has “37 less buttons than the latest Kindle.”

The new-generation Barnes and Noble Nook comes at US$139, which is close to how much a Kindle is. Shipping begins on June 10 with pre-orders starting today on Nook’s online store. Meanwhile, the old Nook comes in a $119 WiFi-only model and a $169 3G-only version, while supplies last.
