NGR: Google and Sprint Team Up for New NFC Payment System

Word around the tech blogosphere is that Google and Sprint would introduce a new NFC payment system today, which they say will be given a monicker “Google Wallet.” Although both companies have yet to announce anything about it, expect the tech geeks to unleash their online ninja skills.

One reader from Engadget revealed that the WHOIS information for “googlewallet.com” actually leads to Google. The catch is that the domain was created in 2005, when Google Checkout was initially known as Google Wallet. However, instead of displaying a Google error page, the URL is just plain dead, which means that something is up.

Good thing we only have a few hours to wait for any sign of confirmation.
