Mayekawa Manufacturing demonstrated a robot with new image processing functions that can automatically debone chicken breasts at FOOMA Japan 2011. This robot can process 1,500 chickens per hour, 10 times as fast as doing it manually. The new image processing functions allows it to handle the individual characteristics of each chicken to greatly improve yield.
“The most important thing in removing chicken meat from bones is the process of making shallow cuts. In that process it makes shallow cuts at the tip of the shoulder and around the collarbone.
