Chinese court sentences three to Prison escape IPad Design

A Chinese court sentenced three people to prison for stealing information on the design of iPad 2 Apple, which was used to make protective cases for the months of device before even launching Tablet hit.

Shenzhen Baoan was held earlier this month that three people had collaborated to steal trade secrets of provider for Apple, Foxconn, which builds the iPad in factories in China.

The scheme was launched last July when Xiao Chengsong, the head of a company Chinese electronics, contacted Hou Pengna, a former employee at Foxconn on obtaining information on the iPad design 2.

Hou spilled and 20,000 yuan (US$ 3,090) Lin Kecheng, a section chief with the Group of research and development of Foxconn. In return, Lin provided documents on the design of the iPad from 2 enclosure. Xiao company, MacTop Electronics, then used the information for making more 100 iPad 2 protection outer envelopes, promote the products on the Web.

Xiao was sentenced to 18 months in prison and a fine of 150,000 yuan. Lin was sentenced to 14 months and sentenced to a fine of 100,000 yuan, while Hou was sentenced to a year and a fine of 30,000 yuan.

Xiao and his company MacTop could not be reached for comment.

Foxconn said in a statement, "we cannot comment on internal security issues, but Foxconn takes its commitment to protect its intellectual property as well as that of its customers very seriously and is undertaking all appropriate actions to protect themselves against any violation."

Apple has not responded to a request for comments.

Was Shenzhen Baoan announced the conviction, on Tuesday, the information on its Chinese microblog. The Court stated that the research and development related to the flock of trade secrets is estimated at a value of 2.06 million yuan.

Protective case lists iPad 2 were posted year last on sites operated by giant Alibaba group Chinese e-commerce. But the company later took to the bottom of the list with after receiving a request to do so.
