Internet Explorer 9 :Downloaded 27 Times Every Second, Hits 2.35 Million Downloads In Just 24 Hours!

Microsoft’s latest version of its Winodws web browser is the new “beauty of the web” as Microsoft says. And it certainly is, in a multitude of ways. It’s faster than the fast, sleeker, intuitive, feature rich and more powerful than ever.
On the release day, I ran through an Internet Explorer 9 download and installed it on one of my home computers running Windows 7. The very first thing that I could notice was the interface seemed much smoother than the IE8 version that I’ve been using before switching to the IE9 beta.

The new feature that allows you to pin websites to the taskbar is just amazing. And that’s just a couple of things that i mentioned. We have already seen a list of IE9 features in one of our earlier posts, and maybe the success of the latest IE release can be attributed to these features.
A blog post on Microsoft reports that in the first 24 hours of its release, as many as 2.35 million users downloaded Internet Explorer, which accounts to 27 downloads every second, yes every second.

Now, that’s certainly an impressive count. But, it’s still way down of what Firefox 3.5 gathered on the first day of its release. Reports say Firefox has seen as many as 8 million downloads on day one of its launch.
The competition is expected to only stiffen as the browser race heats up. Firefox 4 is expected to arrive into the war zone in full entirety — as a final public release, very soon. Google’s Chrome has already hit the ground mainstream, and with more and more users hitting the download internet explorer 9 button, the browser wars will only get even more interesting.
Ryan Gavin of Microsoft expressed the following in this blog post::
“We want to thank everyone around the world for downloading IE9 and the enthusiastic reception. 2.3 million downloads in 24 hours is over double the 1 million downloads we saw of the IE9 Beta and four times that of the IE9 RC over the same time period.”
As a refresher, the Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 browser boasts hardware acceleration, better performance with new Javascript engine, tab stacking, support for pinning sites to the taskbar, enhanced security and better privacy, jump lists, notification bar, add-on performance advisor, HTML 5 support, Tracking Protection and much more.
