REVIEW: GA-Z68-Gaming - motherboard for gaming computers on Intel Z68 chipset

GIGABYTE has another motherboard based on Intel Z68 chipset. New device is called GA-Z68-Gaming and is positioned as a good basis to build a gaming computer, which will use second generation Intel Core processors.

Looking only at external design executed in the style of G1-Killer motherboards it becomes clear that GA-Z68-Gaming is not just another motherboard based on Intel Z68 chipset. Just like its older sisters G1.Assassin, G1.Sniper and G1.Guerrilla GA-Z68 is equipped with a Bigfoot Networks Killer E2100 network card and Creative Soundblaster X-Fi audio processor.

The developers have equipped this motherboard with two PCI Express x16 slots (supports installation of two video cards in SLI or CrossFire). It also has two PCI and two more PCI Express x1, and four slots for DDR3 RAM. GA-Z68-Gaming features seven ports SATA 6 Gb / sec for HDD. The rear panel features eight USB 2.0 ports and two USB 3.0 ones, one eSATA port with speed up to 6 Gb / s and HDMI output, PS / 2 port, 3.5 mm sockets for a multi-channel acoustic and S / PDIF.

There is no information on GA-Z68-Gaming release date. Cost data is also unavailable but one can assume that the product will be offered at a price higher than their other GIGABYTE Motherboards based on Z68 chipset. Which means it will cost more than GIGABYTE Z68X-UD7.

ASUS P4P8X Pentium 4 motherboard review

Here is an old golden. Out more than 4 years ago this Council is still available for those who want to add a new motherboard with a Pentium 4 system.

Old computers can last very, very long time and often get arranged long before their exhaustion capabilities and components abandon the ghost. This Commission solves a particular problem with very old boards, and it is the lack of capacity to upgrade.

But before we look at those, here's a list of features:

Pentium 4 supportTwo port SATA RAID3 x PCI card slots1 x PCIe x 168 x USBOnboard audioLAN extension port

Honestly, I can admit that I am always running a Pentium 4 processor on my main (and only) computer. He has been in service for 7 years. And still going.

I upgraded mainly to take advantage of SATA RAID. After my hard drive crashed and I lost all my data, I realized that I needed a kind of RAID solution for the sake of security. Motherboard upgraded had this as a built-in feature.

For an old system P4 this motherboard will allow the addition of a RAID configuration and upgrade to a decent graphics card. Integrated features such as audio and LAN may be too few extras added nice.

The price is not too low, but this product has been tested and come out a winner. With the years of performance behind him, he was guaranteed to work well.

Asus P4P8X Pentium 4 Motherboard Review

Here’s a golden oldie. Released over 4 years ago this board is still available for those who want to add a new motherboard to a Pentium 4 system.

Old computers can last for a very, very long time and often get disposed of long before their capabilities run out and the components give up the ghost. This board solves one particular problem with very old boards, and that is the lack of upgrade capabilities.

But before we look at those, here’s a list of features:

Pentium 4 supportTwo port SATA RAID3 x PCI expansion card slots1 x PCIe x168 x USBOnboard audioLAN port

I can honestly admit that I still run a Pentium 4 processor on my primary (and only) computer. It has been in service for 7 years. And still going strong.

I upgraded primarily to take advantage of SATA RAID. After my hard drive crashed and I lost all my data I realized that I needed some sort of RAID solution for safety’s sake. The upgraded motherboard had this as a built-in feature.

For an older P4 system this motherboard will allow the addition of a RAID setup and upgrade to a decent graphics card. The built-in features like audio and LAN can be some nice added extras too.

The pricing is not too low, but this product has been through the paces and come out a winner. With years of proven performance behind it, it’s guaranteed to work well.
