As you come into the doors, you are hit with Electronic Arts (EA). In all honesty, I have dealt with EA before, and they are so big that if you ever get an appointment with them, you probably won’t be on their appointment list when you show up on time. That has been the case with me in the past, but for now, I just checked out their latest like Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Behind them was an even bigger giant, Microsoft. They had places to test out their new Kinect games. It looked like what they had last year, down to the specially made decals on the Convention Center Bathroom walls. Kind of a repeat for them this year, actually. I guess if you don’t have an Xbox 360 2, you don’t have much to report on.
Disney Interactive was on board with its latest, which included Cars 2, Disneyland, (name). And Phineas and Ferb:Across the 2nd Dimension. By the way, the creators/producers of Phineas and Ferb, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh stopped by. I waited in line to see them, but it was a bit too long for me. I decided to come by later, and got to shake Swampy’s hand. Not exactly the highlight of the trip, but still worth it.
In the corner was Activition, and they had huge screens displaying their games. They looked like glasses-free 3D too. They are the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, and other games without colons in them.
It seems like a lot of companies had huge screens. Square Enix, for example, showed off Final Fantasy XIII-2, Deus Ex:Human Revolution, and a new Tomb Raider, this one is a prequel.
On Live was also there, and they were celebrating their one hundredth game on their platform. They have grown a lot in the past year.
Now on to the West Hall, after the jump.
In front is Capcom with Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.
Sony Online had DC Universe and more. Speaking of Sony, both Nintendo and Sony had two giant boths in this area, right across from each other. Each one had a line around it to see the latest. With Sony, it was the Vita, and with Nintendo, the Wii U. I didn’t wait in either of those lines.
I am amazed at how many booths were closed off, and I couldn’t get in, even though I flashed my Media Badge. Man, why are you even here. This happened when I wanted to get a peak at Bioshock Infinite. Bethesda was also by appointment only.
Also, there was a shameless amount of “Booth Babes”. It seems like every company always has at least one or two ladies dressed in skimpy attire, and always willing to get a picture with the gamers. The most shameless was at THQ by the uDraw. There was one with a low top showing a lot of cleavage, and the top read “Now Available”. Precisely what am I supposed to infer from that?
Anyway, I’m glad to be back.
