REVIEW: iOS 5 Updates to be Delivered on Verizon Over the Air

Updating an Apple mobile software is a pain, mainly because we are dealing with very large files. The iOS 4.3.3, which was intended to fix privacy concerns regarding location tracking, is 666.2MB.

Those excruciating days may soon come to an end, at least for Verizon subscribers, as Apple and Verizon are planning to deliver iOS updates over the air beginning this fall or just as soon as the iOS 5 is made available.

Sources say that over-the-air updating may be extended to other carriers that distribute the iDevices and Apple will most likely have to alter the file sizes of its updates. They also speculate that Apple might be working on a cloud backup service, which sounds sensible.
