Mac Malware in the Wild, but it Requires User to Allow it to Install

It seems there is a new piece of Mac malware popping up around the Internet, but it requires the user to actually authorize it running to infect the computer.

It is called "Mac Defender" and arrives as a pop-up that tells the computer user they are infected with a virus and to "click here" to install a fix. If the users agrees, a trojan horse is downloaded which will randomly load porn websites on the computer.

The lesson to be learned from this is that any computer can be infected and it really pays for the user to be as aware as possible of where software they install is coming from. Whether you are using a Windows or a Mac computer, both can be susceptible to viruses... especially if the user agrees to let them be installed.
