Intel: Ultrabook is not a sign that he has failed to tablets

Proposal for a new class of portable computer, the Ultrabook Intel, is not an admission that he is losing the battle to its microprocessors in tablets, according to a business executive.

"We are fine." Today, there are many tablets which have no Intel inside. "But we put much effort to cash," said Mooly Eden, vice President and General Manager of Intel's PC Client Group.

Intel announced the series Ultrabook Tuesday at the Computex Taipei show. The devices are designed to combine the fastest processing speeds of PCs with thin and light Tablet design.

Ultrabooks will be less 20 mm (0.8 inches) in thickness and Intel is working with manufacturers to obtain a first wave of out devices by the end of the year at price holiday shopping less than US$ 1 000, the company said Tuesday. ASUS said Tuesday that a nicknamed Ultrabook the UX21 will emerge at the end of the year.

Subsequent ultrabooks will depend on upcoming processors name code Ivy Bridge, which will be published next year, Haswell, which will be published in 2013. Although the first due out ultrabooks on the market do not appear to offer very different specifications of current notebooks, low consumption of bullets Haswell will even thinner design and longer battery life, Intel said.

Intel has high hopes for Ultrabooks: it is expected at the end of next year, they will represent 40% of the sales of portable consumer.

But the company also seeks to attract a greater share of the Tablet market. Most of these devices currently uses chips designed by rival to Intel, ARM Holdings, because the arm's designs are considered more effective power. Unlike Intel, arm does not chips itself, but its processor based models to other manufacturers for incorporation in their own products of the licences.

ARM could also a threat to the activities of Intel based PC market. On Monday, arm predicts more than half of all tablets, mini-notebooks and other mobile PCs sold in 2015 will use processors of the company.

In an interview with the press, Eden pointed out that Intel was not admitting failure in the market of the Tablet by introducing the Ultrabook and noted the efforts of the company to develop its own microprocessors designed for devices such as tablets, low-power. In April, Intel has announced its new processor Atom, called Oak Trail, who expects Intel will be used in 35 drawings compressed.

"We always take our competition seriously," Eden said, adding that he believed that Intel will win in the end because it suggested more processors. "Arm technology will attempt to climb in the space of the portable computer." We will try to go in their space. "Let the a better victory".

The Ultrabook Intel announcement also does not want that company moves his attention of netbooks, according to Erik Reid, Director General of the division of the mobile platform from Intel.

"We absolutely believe in the netbook category," he said, adding that Intel will announce innovations for Wednesday at the Computex Netbooks. Intel also wants to bring the price of netbooks up to $199, Reid said.

"Despite a few problems of quality of these tablets of white box, they remain attractive to conscious buyers, like students, which are based on prices, the value shopping," said Richard Shim, a senior analyst for DisplaySearch, in a statement.

The tablets of white box, which in some cases, are knock-offs of top-name brands such as the iPad, might have less material such as lower quality screens, said DisplaySearch. The white box tablet can use signs that is rejected by major brands, says DisplaySearch.

Many white box tablets are sold in stores in retail or through individual sites of retail prices ranging from 75 $ to 300 $ US. Some tablets have unrecognizable brand names, come without support and cannot be returned.

Some white box tablets have processors core running less 1 GHz and the old versions of Android, but offer Wi - Fi, USB, slot 3 G ports and cameras that could make useful devices. For example, an Epad $126 with a 10 inch screen on the site of sale in large Chinese Sourcinggate has a 1 CPU GHz ARM, Android 2.1, 2 GB storage, Wi - Fi and port capacity (interface high-definition multimedia) USB and HDMI.

Some buyers as Lorrie Jollimore purchased tablets from white box to experiment with the form factor. Jollimore bought China 7-inch tablet to approximately 15 per cent of the cost of a new iPad 2. It is not certain of the quality of the device and is waiting for the tablet to arrive.

"I couldn't picture why would even need a Tablet for the past year." I have my laptop Mac at home and my iPhone and didn't think that I was never without a device which seemed appropriate activity, "Jollimore wrote in a blog entry".

Shrugs from Intel to the potential Mess PC tablets, notebook Sales

IntelIntelintel would happily chips for Apple and other rivals, its Chief Financial Officer, said Thursday, but suggested that the company does not believe the Apple iPad and similar tablets would any tooth in the sales of portable and, consequently, company Intel core processor.

Instead of this, the tablets are an "incremental device" with limited applications that appeal to consumers, not mass market or business high-end, said Stacy Smith.

The chip manufacturer sees sales of laptops leaping before and with them, commands for processors to full power.

According to Reuters, Smith said Intel would gladly use its manufacturing could combine its exclusive architecture with the technology to other companies and might even consider to core-Intel for some customers.

"If Apple or Sony's came to us and said" I want to make a product that involves your core IA (Intel architecture) and a part of my IP around it ", I wouldn't blink." It would be great business for us, "says.

"Then you get into the soil of medium of"I do not want it's core IA, I want to make it my own heart custom-designed", and... it would be a discussion and much more in-depth analysis," Smith said.

He spoke to journalists at an Investor Conference in London with Christian Morales Chief of operations of Intel in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

"The data is data", said moral. "[Highest sales] volumes are laptops, and netbooks, and other devices.".

Netbooks have climbed to come in 2008-2010 because the economy was bad and they were cheap, said Smith. Now that the economy begins to recover, netbook sales have stagnated because consumers and businesses want computers real.

Even Apple sells a MacBook to a clip faster than iPads, said Smith. The iPad runs on a Samsung processor, while Apple uses processors Intel Core2 for MacBook.

In the worst scenarios, the tablets before travel netbooks toward the end of this year and could steal a third of the company netbook in 2013, he predicted.

Dell to import tablets 10 inches in China, first, to the United States pending

Dell will first launch its Tablet Streak 10 Pro in China, to other markets such as the United States and Europe on hold to give developers more time to create the necessary applications.

It will launch the Android tablet in China "later this summer," according to a blog written by Amit Midha, President of the firm of the China and South Asia. In the second half of 2011, Dell will also assess what other areas he wants to sell the product.

The PC manufacturer has decided to sell the Tablet Streak 10 Pro in China first because of the large market of the country, where many people go online for the first time, Midha wrote. "In addition, we have a presence significantly - and growing - retail in China, with more than 10,000 locations where customers can purchase Dell products throughout the region," he said.

But China will also be a testing ground for the product, as Dell is preparing to launch tablets on the American and European markets at a later date. Apps are an important part of the services offered on the shelves. But in the case of China, access to these applications could be more difficult since the Google's Android market is not available in the country.

"We will use what we learn in China to shape mobile products, that we offer in other places on the road," said Midha. Also, in an effort to provide a complete experience to its customers, Dell wants to give more time to developers in other markets create "robust apps" for professionals, he added.

This is not the first time that Dell has launched a product in the development of markets first. In 2009, it announced it would sell its first smartphone in the Brazil and China.

China could be a better market for Dell to sell its tablets, whereas apple already dominates so other markets with its iPad device, said Sun Peilin, an analyst with Beijing Analysys International based research firm. While Apple has a share of 78 percent of the tablet of the China market, there are still plenty of room for future rivals and to establish their own presence, Sun said.

Sales compressed in China, during its growth, are still only a small part of the market in the world. Sales compressed in the country are expected to reach 4.5 million units this year, an increase of 600,000, according to Analysys estimates.

Sales compressed in the world are expected to hit 69.7 million units, about four times the 16.7 million sold in 2010, according to research firm Gartner.

Market China tablet, however, is already being eyed by other competitors. Earlier this year, Lenovo and Motorola launch their own Android tablets in China. In a webcast of gains the month last Lenovo said that it wants to seize a 20 per cent of the tablet of the China market.

China is also an important market for tablets cheap unbranded. Some of these tablets sell for 75 $ to 300 $ US.

"There are a lot of media premises vendors tablet in China, usually using low-end Android white boxes," said IDC Associate Vice President Bryan Ma. "It is possible that Dell think it can be positioned as a better product with a better brand against those."

In the first quarter, 41 per cent of the $850.00 tablets sold in China ran Android, according to IDC. Android ran on 25% of the 2.3 million tablets sold in United States during the same period.
