LG has decided to launch the Optimus 3D in the UK market. The world’s first 3D smartphone is now available at Clove for £454.80 (unlocked/SIM-free). As a reminder, the LG Optimus 3D has a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz dual-core TI processor, dual 5MP cameras with 3D capture and video recording and 2D 720p HD video recording, an 8GB of internal storage, a 512MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, DLNA, an HDMI out and a 3.5mm audio jack. The LG Optimus 3D runs on the Google Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

Smart Vacuum Cleaning Robot Named Finalist in IERA and Winner of Red Dot

LG Electronics’ (LG) HOM-BOT Smart Vacuum Cleaning Robot was recognized as a finalist at the 7th Annual Invention and Entrepreneurship Award in Robotics and Automation (IERA). Between the IERA recognition and a red dot design award, the HOM-BOT is the only robotic cleaner in the world to be honored by both prestigious organizations.

The HOM-BOT boasts an impressive array of cutting-edge features. The Dual Eye Camera Sensor is the first such device to be utilized in a vacuum cleaner and uses one lens on the top fascia and one on the bottom to provide more comprehensive visual data. The upper camera is also tasked with simultaneously mapping and remembering floor plans, while the lower camera is equipped with an Optical Flow Sensor that captures a myriad of surface images per second, providing distance information and plotting paths for the HOM-BOT to follow.

Ultrasonic and infrared sensors identify obstacles and work to prevent the redundant bump-and-retreat action. Failsafe systems are built in, so in the event that the HOMBOT does run into an obstacle, the accelerometer and gyro sensor allow the cleaner to react accordingly. The result of this compilation of sensors and programming is a vacuum that avoids the pitfalls rival systems often suffer from. Moreover, the HOM-BOT is pleasingly quiet, with noise levels reduced to just 60dB.

In addition to its technological achievement, HOM-BOT was named a winner of a red dot design award, one of the most prestigious in the industry. Since 1955, the Essen Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has annually selected outstanding design quality and paid official tribute to the award-winning products in an exhibition. The 2011 competition received 4,433 products from 1,700 companies, entered from 60 different countries. The official award ceremony will be held in Essen, Germany on July 4.

LG Launches World’s Fastest A4 Color Desktop Printer Powered by Memjet

Prints High-Quality Color Documents at Astounding Speeds

LG Electronics (LG) and Memjet, a global provider of high-speed color printing technologies, jointly introduced Memjet’s breakthrough office printing technology into the Korean market. The Machjet LPP6010N, the world’s fastest A4 color desktop printer, will be available this month through authorized LG resellers and channel partners.

Until now, printing technology has been limited to laser and traditional inkjet systems. The Machjet represents an entirely new category of printing technology that makes possible high-quality color printing at never-before seen speeds and quality. Memjet’s ground-breaking, high-density page-wide printheads and components enable printers to operate twice as fast but at only half the cost to run versus traditional color
office printers, on average.

“LG prides itself on launching truly innovative products and is pleased to bring the world’s fastest A4 color desktop printers powered by Memjet’s game-changing printing technology to the Korean market,” said Sihwan Park, vice president of LG Electronics’ monitors and printers business unit. “The Machjet delivers completely new levels of color performance and affordability and uses significantly less energy versus laser printers.”

The Machjet leapfrogs over current printers with high-quality color outputs in 1600x800 dpi resolution at 60 pages per minute. Memjet’s proprietary Page Straight Array (PSA) Technology packs more than 70,000 ink nozzles on a single printhead — 17 times the nozzle density of traditional printheads — allowing the Machjet to deliver more than 700 million drops of ink per second on a page.

Len Lauer, president and CEO of Memjet, said: “Combining Memjet’s core technology benefits with LG’s brand, corporate capabilities and vast distribution network, LG is creating exciting new value for Korean customers looking to be more efficient and cost effective in their office printing.”

Printers that are “powered by Memjet” are also energy efficient and less expensive to operate. While competitive color laser printers use on average approximately 600W of electricity during normal operations, the Machjet consumes just 32W. Costs are further reduced via the Machjet’s Hyper Small Drop Technology. The Machjet takes advantage of smaller droplets to minimize the amount of ink required to render clean, crisp text and images at high speed. This technology results in faster-drying ink and reduces the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) by up to 70 percent when compared to competitive color laser printers.

Such innovation has given Memjet a significant intellectual property position in the industry with more than 3,000 approved global patents and another 2,000 pending.

Mystery dual screen LG handset snapped, possibly Flip II

Or LG Q? LG Optimus Slider? LG Maxx Q?

This T-Mo LG phone caught our eye because of the display between the keys which made us think “better look this one up, probably a US exclusive handset”. Exclusive indeed.

Nestling between the slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a secondary touchscreen and in our exploratory prods it did exactly what you’d expect - launch the apps positioned on it as shortcuts. Two of the eight spaces are left blank and ready to be assigned. We didn't have enough time with the phone to see if it did anything else, apart from offering those shortcuts.

It’s fairly hefty device, fatter than the Milestone 2, with LG being fairly generous with the bodywork. It bears some of the same design cues as the LG Quantum/LG Optimus 7Q around the front speaker, and picks up the four touch controls under the screen as we saw on the LG Optimus 2X and Optimus Black.

The camera on the back is LED supported but there are no markings to indicate what MP it might pack in, and LG usually label their cameras, so we’re guessing it isn’t final hardware.


We’re hoping it isn’t final hardware as there was noticeable movement between the two halves of the phone when closed, more like holding a burger than the tight lines of the HTC Desire Z or the Motorola Milestone 2.

We don’t know what the screen resolution is, but it didn’t immediately strike us as being spectacular like the Optimus 2X does, although that could simply be down to early build software - the device still had some of it's protective film on, so it was obviously recently lifted from the box.

Why so light on the details?

This mystery T-Mobile branded LG handset appeared when Orange and Kineto Wireless held a small event in London to demonstrate Kineto’s Smart WiFi solution, which powers Orange’s Signal Boost technology.



Kineto Wireless have worked with T-Mobile in the US to add their Smart WiFi function to a number of devices which is where the LG Mystery Q comes in, as it was nestled in amongst a wide range of devices, many specific to the US and not seen in the UK. When we asked the rep manning the table he didn’t know much about the handset at all, but mentioned the name Flip II.

We're still trying to confirm a name for the device precisely, but the leaked T-Mobile (US) document points to a couple of forthcoming LG devices - there is the LG Flip II and the LG Maxx Q included. There are other rumours about an LG Q or LG Optimus Slider (linked to Sprint), of course, the same format device might have different names on different carriers. We've asked some of our contacts and drawn a few blanks, but if we find out more we'll update the details.

So there we have it, a few pics of a phone we've not seen before, and great sense of remorse that we didn’t have longer with it to find out all the details.

Before starting the actual application download, the user is asked to indicate what the actual phone he has. In this case the choice offered, and the model, whose announcement had not yet taken place. This includes devices were found: LG Optimus B, LG Q, Samsung Chief and Motorola Sunshine.

No details on what kind of model, of course not. We can assume that LG Optimus B - this LG Optimus Black, but that's about what that may mean there is not even LG Q assumptions. It is also likely that Samsung Chief - a Samsung D600, and Motorola Sunshine - version Motorola Photon 4G operator Sprint.

Slider LG's Android and two screens for T-Mobile

Resource Pocket-lint has published information about the new smartphone from the company LG. A model known so far very little, but it is quite remarkable due to a combination of several unorthodox solutions. This smartphone running the Android operating system is executed in the form factor of a side-slider with QWERTY-keyboard. But on the sliding parts between the two blocks of hardware buttons is another touch screen which, apparently, is a tool to run applications made in a special section. It is noted that only on this screen can be up to eight of icons to launch applications, six of which are given initially, and two are appointed by the user. The thickness of the LG than Milestone 2 and the whole apparatus is of impressive dimensions.


Below the screen in this model are touch controls on the whole similar to those of the smartphone LG Optimus 2X and Optimus Black. On the back of the camera lens is located. It is clearly seen that side of it is the LED flash, but contrary to custom, LG did not place an inscription on the number of megapixels. The main screen is big enough, but it is unlikely to permit very large. It can be assumed that the model is not yet ready for mass production - this suggests the absence of typical vehicles LG inscriptions and a large gap between the halves of the body. The unit was seen at an event in London with branding operator T-Mobile. There is no description or even the name of the smartphone is not there.

LG Optimus Black: Start of sales in Russia

LG Electronics has announced the release of the Russian smartphone LG Optimus Black (P970). The model will be available in June and will cost 17,990 rubles. This smart phone is a candy bar with a 4-inch touch screen IPS. The display is unusual in that is made by NOVA technology and is highly mobile device brightness - 700 nits. The device runs on Android 2.2 with optional interface LG UI 2.0, but promised to upgrade to Android 2.3. In Russia, the model will go to local services, including "VKontakte", "Classmates", "Yandex.Maps" and several others. LG Optimus Black can be controlled and gestures - to enable this feature is the key of G on the sidebar.

LG Optimus 3D landing on June 20th, says Amazon

The LG Optimus 3D could be hitting shelves in just one week’s time, if an Amazon listing is anything to go by.

Seller ‘KingOfGadgets’ is listing the smartphone with a June 20th release date, matching up nicely with LG‘s promised ‘Q2′ launch. It’s available to pre-order from the UK store too, although you’ll have to hand over a whopping 600 quid.

You could always head over to BuyMobilePhones.net, which has also kicked off its pre-orders for the three-dimensional handset. Prices start from just £23.41 per month, and it’s available to grab on O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

Launched at February’s MWC, the Optimus 3D is the UK’s first 3D smartphone, set to soon be joined by the HTC Evo 3D. Not only does it sport a 4.3 inch “naked-eye” display, it also features dual stereoscopic cameras, capable of capturing 3D video. Other specs include a 1GHz dual-core processor, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, 1080p HD video capture (in 2D), HDMI and DLNA media sharing, HSDPA and WiFi speeds, and up to 32GB of storage via microSD.

Once released, the LG Optimus 3D will also be available in White, exclusively at the Carphone Warehouse.

Indeed, the Lotus Elite is much sleeker and curvier than the blocky Lotus, with rounded corners and shiny chrome detail along its borders. The phone feels like it is solidly constructed the hinge seems sturdy as well.

LG wisely debuted the Lotus Elite in a stunning bold red decorated with a whimsical floral tattoo, which appears to be a ploy to attract the female demographic. However, the biggest design update for LG Lotus Elite is with its external display. It measures 2.4 inches diagonally, which takes up quite a bit of room on such a small phone. It also boasts 262.000 colors and a 320x240 pixel resolution, which makes everything look sharp and colorful. Not only that, but the display is now a touch screen.

Indeed, you can use your finger to tap through options just as you would with any touch screen handset. The display is resistive, not capacitive, so it's not quite as responsive as the screen on the iPhone or the Nexus One, but since the external touch screen on LG Lotus Elite has access to only a limited menu of options, it's not that big a deal. The first thing you'll notice when you activate the external touch screen is that it has animated wallpaper the one we have has an animation of a flying butterfly, for example.

You will also see the typical indicators like battery and signal strength, plus the date and time. There's also an icon for any missed calls or messages. Beyond that, you can customize it so that you can access your messages, photo gallery (or slide show), speed dial contacts, recent call history, and contacts list without having to open the phone. You simply swipe horizontally across the screen to flip through them. You can also use the external display as a camera viewfinder.

You can adjust the external display's screensaver and, if you want, you can calibrate the touch screen for added accuracy. On the whole, we found the external touch screen intuitive to use. On the left side are a 2.5mm headset jack, the volume rocker, and the charger jack, while the camera key, screen lock key, and microSD card slot are on the right. On the back of the phone is a tiny little metal loop on which you can tie a cell phone charm if you wish. The LG Lotus Elite even comes with an optional red leather strap to attach to it.

Interestingly, the 2.0 megapixel camera on LG Lotus Elite is located right on the hinge of the phone. When the phone is closed, the camera lens appears on the upper left of the phone's rear. When the phone is open, the lens appears on the hinge in between the display and the keypad. Since you'll be using the internal display as a viewfinder at that point, it makes it much easier to take self portraits. Flip open the phone and you'll find another 2.4 inch display with the same color support and pixel resolution. Unlike the external display, though, the internal one is not a touch screen.

It does feature Sprint's OneClick interface, which is a center carousel of shortcut tiles along the bottom row of the home screen. This lets you quickly access phone functions like your messages, your account details, Sprint Navigation, your Yahoo Mail, and more. Notable shortcuts include quick views of your Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace accounts, plus a Google menu that gives you access to Google search, Gmail, and YouTube. You can easily add and remove shortcut tiles from the OneClick carousel. You can adjust the display's brightness, the backlight time, the font size for messages, the browser, the notepad, the dial digits, and applications, and you can have picture IDs for contacts, unsaved numbers, and private or unknown numbers. The main menu can be arranged in either grid view or list view.

The phone has a built-in web browser for MEdia Net downloads and mobile web browsing. You'll be able to access the AT&T Mobile Music services, which enables you to access the Napster and eMusic subscription music services, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal.

LG Neon GT365 Features
LG Neon GT365 has a 2.4 inch LCD with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution and support for 262K colors, and it also has an accelerometer for auto rotation of the screen when you turn it from portrait to landscape view. Below the screen you'll find a colorfully organized four button navigator that's complemented by send or end keys and two soft navigation keys. When you press the dialer button at the bottom left corner of the LG Neon GT365's navigation area, you'll be able to quickly dial numbers using the touchscreen dialer.

All other functions are accessed via the physical navigation keys. The Home screen menu from LG Neon GT365's Flash user interface (UI) provides quick access to your calendar, alarm clock and digital audio player, and it provides an intuitive tab-based layout for accessing phone, multimedia and other tools. LG Neon GT365 also offers a three row full QWERTY keyboard that smoothly slides out from the left side of the phone (when viewed in tall portrait mode). LG Neon GT365 comes with a small 14 MB internal memory, which is expandable via optional microSD memory cards (up to 4 GB in size).

The internal phonebook can store up to 1000 contacts, with each entry providing space for up to four phone numbers, one email address, and a picture ID. The phone also includes nine speed dial options (eight entries plus one voicemail) and support for caller groups as well as designating a specific ringtone to a contact. Hands free communication is easy thanks to the integrated speakerphone. This phone also provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity (version 2.0), and includes profiles for communication headset, hands free car kits, and file transfer.

With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can also wirelessly send contacts, calendar events, notes and pictures. LG Neon GT365 can save up to 20 Bluetooth pairings. The digital audio player is compatible with MP3, AAC/AAC+, and WMA files, and it allows you to create and manage playlists directly on LG Neon GT365. Other features include a customizable equalizer and visualization, the ability to multitask in other phone applications while still playing music, and easy transfer of files from your PC via USB (optional cable available separately).

LG Neon GT365 also includes a flight mode, which allows you to continue playing music while turning off the cellular radio. The 2 megapixel camera offers four resolution modes (1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 640 x 480, and 320 x 240 pixels) and it has up to a 4x digital zoom (depending on resolution selection). It also features white balance and brightness controls, multi shot capabilities, night mode for enhanced imagery in low light conditions, multiple quality options, and your choice of shutter tones (including silent). LG Xenon GR500 can quickly download video, music and more over AT&T's lightning quick HSPDA 3G network. Additionally, with AT&T's 3G network, you can listen to a conference call on a headset while sending and receiving e-mail attachments, picture messages or Web pages at the same time. This GPS enabled phone can access the AT&T Navigator service for turn by turn directions as well as its Video Share serve, which enables you to send video of yourself to another compatible phone while making a voice call.

LG Xenon GR500's large touchscreen with vibration feedback and enhanced user interface make menus, shortcuts, and contacts available right at your fingertips. And with its compact, slideout QWERTY keyboard, you can quickly send text messages and emails. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera or camcorder, Bluetooth for handsfree devices and stereo music streaming, MicroSD memory expansion (up to 16 GB), organizer tools, access to mobile email and instant messaging, and up to 4 hours of talk time.

AT&T Service
This AT&T phone can handle high speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network, which is available in most major metropolitan areas. The AT&T 3G network uses the dual band 850 and 1900 MHz 3G network (UMTS/HSDPA), which provides download speeds ranging from 700 Kbps to 1.7 Mbps, and upload speeds ranging from 500 Kbps to 1.2 Mbps. LG Neon (AT&T)

LG Neon (AT&T) is an attractive phone, with smooth rounded corners, clean lines, and a compact form factor. Measuring 4 inches long by 2 inches wide by 0.66 inch thick, LG Neon (AT&T) is quite lightweight at 3.81 ounces. It's slim enough to fit in the pocket and feels good in the hand. The sliding mechanism is smooth yet sturdy. On the front of the phone is a glossy black finish featuring a lovely 2.4 inch display with support for 262.000 colors and a 240x320 resolution. Images look great on it and the text is very legible as well.

You can adjust the backlight time, the brightness, the font size of the menu text and the dialing digits, the menu styles, and the appearance of the clock on the home screen. LG Neon has a touch screen but only for the number keypad. The most unusual thing about the Neon's display is that it is a touch screen but only for the phone dialer application. When you press a phone dialer key on the navigation array, a virtual number keypad will show up on the display. You can then dial a number by tapping the digits on the screen.

You can also set it so that the phone vibrates whenever your touch registers, plus you can adjust the intensity of the vibration. As we said, though, the display is only a touch screen for dialing numbers; all other functions need to be done via physical keys. We weren't so pleased with this we would rather have a full touch screen interface, or a real physical number keypad, not something in between.

Underneath the display is the navigation array, which consists of two soft keys, a four way toggle with a middle confirmation key, the Send and End and Power keys, the Clear or Back key, and the aforementioned phone dialer key. The toggle can be mapped to four user defined shortcuts, and the middle confirmation key brings up the Web browser when in standby mode. On the left spine of the phone is the volume rocker and dedicated camera key, while the microSD card slot and headset or charger jack sit on the right spine. On the back is the camera lens and self portrait mirror. LG Neon has a full QWERTY keyboard.

Turn the phone 90 degrees to your right, slide the phone up, and you'll find a full QWERTY keyboard. The screen will automatically change orientation from portrait to landscape mode. The keyboard has two soft keys on the far left and right side, an orange Function key, a Symbol key, plus an OK or Back button on the bottom right. Even though the keys are laid out in only three rows as opposed to the four rows of keys on the LG Xenon, the Neon keyboard still felt spacious with plenty of room between each key. The keys are all raised above the surface and feel easy to type.

LG Touch DVB T80

The "Digital Media" department deals with "Mobile Entertainment Devices" or in other words portable media players. LG has been rewarded many times with an EISA Award for the best product, like their first MP3 player featuring a touch screen. The LG T80 is one of its siblings. LG T80 PMP was designed by the same designer that designed the Prada cell phones. Although LG T80 looks slightly better than previous portable media players of the LG stable, the design still remains somewhat on the boring side.

The front has a shiny coating with few buttons. One side contains the on/off/pause slide bar, the top side carries a 3mm head jack connection, and the large 3 inch WQVGA (400 x 240) Touch Screen TFT color LCD takes care of the remaining operation possibilities. With its dimensions of 3.87 x 2.18 x 0.5 inches the T80 closely resembles the Apple iPhone, however; the LG T80's weight is a lot less.

What makes this LG so special is the DVB-T support that allows you to watch television, providing there is a signal close by. The LG T80 portable media player offers 4GB of storage capacity (also available with 8GB) which translates into approximately 1000 songs. Standard included with the T80 are a headset, USB data cable, manual and LG Media Centre software. LG T80 media player features DVB-T enabling you to watch television whenever a digital TV signal is available.

Watching television on the screen is a joy to the eye. It feels like watching television on a screen that is clearer than your analogue TV, or even clearer than some computer screens. Since the signal is digital, there is no annoying noise or delay in transmission the image stands, or is not there at all. This is extremely pleasant to watch, whilst once there is a picture it comes undisturbed, which lets you watch television without interruptions.
