Rumors abound about a new tablet device that will be coming your way from Toshiba. It seems that sometime in the not too distant 2011 future, the Android based device will be hitting shelves in stores near you. As a matter of fact, if news from the Consumer Electronics Show is any indication, you'll be seeing several new tablets in the first half of the new year.
Anyway, here are some of the specs that have hit the news:
- Android "Gingerbread" Operating System
- Removable battery - while this is nice, if the device has a battery life similar to the iPad (I'm not sure if it does) this seems nice but maybe overkill
- Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor
- 10.1 Inch 1280 x 800 display
- An SD card slot as well as a HDMI port for connecting to other video devices
- 2 cameras - a rear facing camera that will have a 5 megapixel capacity and a forward facing camera with a 2 megapixel capacity
- Wifi but no connection to any wireless data networks from wireless carriers like Sprint, AT&T, etc
As more and more of these devices hit the market they'll begin to push into iPad sales. This is going to be a really interesting year for tablets. No doubt about that .
