As regular readers know, I'm a huge fan of eBook readers. To me it doesn't matter what model you own. Whether it be Nook, iPad, or my device the Amazon Kindle, they all work well and are an excellent way to read and to keep track of your collections. Since purchasing my first generation Kindle 2-3 years ago, I've read more non-dental stuff than I had in the previous 10 years combined.
Now the folks at Sony have come up with a new device that keeps the same screen size as previous models, but cuts the size of the device overall. This could make a big impact for some of you. The Sony PRS-350SC, pictured above, is a sweet little device. It features a compact size measuring 5.7x4.1x.3 inches and weighs just .4 pounds (155g). However, it keeps the 5 inch display of the previous renditions from Sony. What's great is that while the display is the same size, it has been upgraded to what Sony calls E Ink Pearl which provides an easier to read resolution.
The screen has also been updated to a touchscreen which allows you to control the device with your fingers and allows you to turn pages with a swipe, similar to the iPad. The 2GB onboard memory allows you to store up to 1200 books and the OS supports many different ebook formats. It also has 12 built-in dictionaries. I'm personally not sure why so many, but let's face it... that's impressive.
If you are looking for an eBook Reader and haven't yet found the one that's right for you. Give this one a look. While I don't have any personal experience with it, I'm impressed with the info on it that I've been able to find.
Also, I'll put in a plug for the book shown on the screen. If you haven't yet had a chance to read Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", you owe it to yourself to do so. Larsson managed to create three books in the series before his untimely passing and I've read 2 and am currently working on the third. All of them are highly recommended.
