A fake company, a fake CEO and promises of freebies. Fusion Garage, makers of the now (in)famous JooJoo tablet, knew exactly how to get our attention so all eyes were on the launch of the JooJoo 2 – aka the Grid 10 tablet – and its smartphone companion, the Grid 4. Somebody’s been watching Tron on repeat.
The Grid 10 will be available in Wi-Fi and 3G models and also boasts a 1.3MP front-facing camera for video calls, Bluetooth 2.1 and 16GB of storage. And the 10in tablet, with its 1366 x 768 resolution screen, new Grid operating system and Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, shows potential. Then again, only time, and a review, will tell.
Grid OS supports Android apps and it looks like it has some nice UI features of its own like Seamless State to sync content between Grid devices, The Wheel for copy and paste and bringing up additional info as well as browser controls that disappear when you don’t need them.
Fusion Garage also unveiled the Grid 4, which has a couple of tricks up its smartphone sleeve. Running on a Qualcomm dual-core processor with 16GB memory, it has all the Grid OS features and Android apps of the Grid 10 on a 4in screen with a 5MP camera with auto-focus round the back.
Both the Grid 10 and the Grid 4 are set to head to the US on September 15, with no word yet on Middle East pricing or availability. Anyone who bought the original JooJoo will get a free Grid 10. The question is: will you want one?
