As with all things Apple, rumors swirl constantly. Of course that makes for some interesting speculation, but it also makes trying to give you the "real" news a bit more than difficult for me.
So... take this one with the proverbial "grain of salt", but the current buzz is that the next generation of the iPad, dubbed iPad 2 by geeks, could be showing up sooner as opposed to later. With the arrival of some Android tablets on the very near horizon, this would appear to make sense. I've also been hearing for some time that the device is in production.
So what does this mean? Well, unfortunately not much. Apple is extremely secretive about anything that isn't yet on the market and they certainly aren't helping here. However, it has been over a year since the original iPad was announced and we will soon be at the magic "one year window" of the original being on the market. We all know an update is coming and Apple has a sort of predictable habit of updating things about once a year. Those little tidbits alone make me think there is a lot of credence to this.
Of course I blogged multiple times about the Beatles coming to iTunes and missed that one 4 or 5 times... Here's hoping that this one is right and that the new iPad will be here sooner than expected.
