As I've stated here before, the Palm Pre was a great idea for a smartphone. Unfortunately, Palm just didn't have the financial wherewithal to back it and it was left in the dust by the iPhone that was released just a week or 2 after the Pre hit the market.
After HP bought Palm last year, rumors began to swirl about a slate type device based on the Web OS platform that powered the Pre. The device has been under developement for some time, but now looks ready to hit the market fairly soon.
