The latest edition of Sound On Sound (May 2011) contains a fantastic review of the AKG Perception 120 USB microphone. In fact, editor Paul White's conclusion reads:
"As a way of getting good quality vocals or other sounds into a laptop without needing to buy anything else, this model takes some beating."
The AKG Perception 120 USB uses 24-bit converters with 128 x oversampling rather than the 16-bit converters found on the vast majority of its rivals. Coupled with the AKG 2/3" capsule the Perception 120 USB delivers superb results. The review praises its "commendably low level of background noise" and its "clear, confident sound".
The AKG Perception 120 USB is plug and play on Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X. It is available now priced at £129 SRP inc VAT.
