Soundcraft Notepad 124FX review in Sound On Sound "hard to find fault"

"At this price, it's hard to find fault with this neat little desk, which should win fans on stage and in the home studio."

Soundcraft's new Notepad 124FX compact mixer is given a fantastic review in the latest issue of Sound On Sound (November 2010, 25th Anniversary Special Issue). One of three models in the new Notepad multi-purpose mixer line-up, the Notepad 124FX features Soundcraft audio performance with the acclaimed GB30 mic preamp and EQ technology in a highly-compact and solid chassis.

From the outset the review highlights the benefits of using a small analogue mixer even in today's DAW-centric studio: "A small mixer can still represent very good value for money - particularly by the time you've taken account of the preamps, EQ, patching and monitor-control facilities."

In testing the Soundcraft Notepad the review praises the"transparent and neutral" preamps, "musically sympathetic" EQ and concludes:

"The Notepad 124FX is a good, versatile little mixer that's also capable of serving as a basic monitor controller ... If elegant, affordable simplicity on a budget is what you're after in a DAW front-end or a small on-stage setup, you could do much worse than acquire one of these little mixers."
